SpeakArray

How SpeakArray works

SpeakArray turns selected RSS and Atom feeds into a single technology news stream while minimizing duplicate requests and duplicate headlines.

1. Selected feeds are checked

SpeakArray retrieves configured RSS or Atom feeds at the refresh interval set by the site operator. When the same feed URL is assigned to more than one category, it is fetched once and its category memberships are combined.

2. Headlines are normalized and deduplicated

The system compares article links and removes common tracking parameters such as UTM tags when determining whether two entries represent the same story. Duplicate feed records can therefore appear as one headline with multiple categories.

3. Dates stay simple

RSS Date is the publication date supplied by the feed when available. Added is when SpeakArray stored the headline. SpeakArray does not open every article page to guess or reconstruct publication dates.

4. The latest refresh is visible

Headlines added during the most recent refresh can be marked NEW. On the next completed refresh, the previous batch returns to normal and only the new batch receives the marker.

5. Readers go to the publisher

SpeakArray is a discovery layer. The headline link points to the original source so readers can view the full story, context, media and updates on the publisher's website.
